FELLOWSHIP COMMUNITY CHURCH

HISTORY

Fellowship Community Church, (formerly known as Fellowship Pentecostal Church) came into existence on November 1st, 2004, when Reverends Reg & Bev Bone, felt the call of God on their lives to begin a new Independent Evangelical work on the South Shore of Nova Scotia where they were residing. With the support, encouragement and affiliation of President, Reverend Stephen Wade, of the World Mission Evangelistic Association Inc. of Paradise Nova Scotia, the church came into being.

The work began and remained in the Pastors’ home in Mill Cove Park a former Canadian Forces Base, on the outskirts of Hubbard’s NS.   In November of 2004, we began advertising the church in the two local area newspapers.   As a result of those ads, one Sunday in December, we were blessed with two people (of Hammonds Plains), who were interested in coming to church on a regular basis.   They have become an integral part of the family at FCC.  On Christmas Eve 2004, we held our first Candlelight Church Service in our home, a combination of ten friends and neighbourhood people were present.  It was indeed a beautiful celebration of  “The Christmas Story”.

A time of fellowship and refreshments followed.

In April of 2005, we met a young couple who moved into the park four doors from us.  We welcomed them to the park, and invited them to come to church in our home.    We were also able to assist them in another personal way and they were grateful.   So, led by The Holy Spirit, Harry who is an accomplished carpenter, designed, built and donated the FCC Pulpit, which we still use today.  This young couple started to come to church on a regular basis and eventually, Pastor Reg was honoured and blessed with the privilege of uniting them in marriage, on Saturday May 28th, 2005, in the Black Point, NS Fire Hall.

We received encouragement from the Property Manager of Mill Cove Developments, who gave us permission to move the church out of our home and into “The Gatehouse”.  May 1st we began to hold services in there rent free.  We were blessed!  However, there were no furnishings within the building, so we hurriedly went out and purchased folding chairs, ordered Communion Ware and Offering Plates and a folding table.  On Sunday morning November 13th, 2005, God blessed us with a lady named Martha , from the park.   Then on Sunday morning November 27th, 2005, Martha returned with her daughter April . Martha's husband Larry came to service once and the son never did come to church.  April attended regularly with her Mother and her family attended church only once.

On Sunday November 27th, 2005, during the morning worship hour, Andrew  and his sons Andrew and Brian were moving into the park, when they saw our sign, they  came in and joined our service.   Andrews wife Pamela and daughters Demera and Celinda came to service at a later date.

On December 18th, 2005, a Christmas Concert was held in the church featuring the Gospel Quartet “Shekinah”, with 31 in attendance, and a time of fellowship and refreshments followed.      On December 24th, 2005, we held a Candlelight Service with only six people in attendance.

On March 5th, 2006, a combined service was held with the Church in the Pines congregation.  President Stephen Wade was the special speaker in the morning worship hour, with 24 people in attendance.   A time of fellowship and lunch followed.

On September 18th, 2006, Fellowship Community Church hosted a first ever dinner for the local area Firefighter’s, Paramedics and their spouses.   The Lions Club of Hubbard’s prepared and served a roast beef dinner.   Local businesses within the community contributed monies, to be used for the purchase of a set of “Jaws for Life.”  Five of the celebrants were the recipients of donated gifts.  The Fire Chief presented certificates of achievements to the deserving Firefighters.   The local Councillor Floyd Shatford and his wife Elaine, were in attendance.  A member of our church Eric, took pictures of the evenings festivities and a special group photograph of the Firefighters and Paramedics.   The local newspaper “The Masthead News” followed the evening with a front page story and photograph.
